Serving a modern interpretation of authentic Italian cuisine within a friendly, casual atmosphere. The name Il Tempio means restaurant around a temple?, and when you see the beautiful semi-open-air and garden setting next to a Balinese redbrick and stone-carved Hindu temple shaded by towering trees, you will understand why. The architecture of the restaurant building is inspired by the layout of a traditional Balinese house compound. Here, a series of pavilions and areas, each with a specific function, is positioned around a garden courtyard in accordance with an ancient system of orientation determined by the direction of the sacred Mt Agung. Bordered by an ornamental pond, the stylish restaurant features a breezy open-air lounge, divided into private sitting areas furnished with sofas and tables, complemented by copper-lined lanterns and billowing orange drapes. The main dining and bar area is cooled by ceiling fans and open on two sides; here tables and chairs rest upon a timber floor under a soaring roof, a wooden panel is adorned with colourful Ganesha statues and a wall beside the bar is decorated with old prints of everyday Balinese life. Another open-sided dining space presents a large table for 14, ideal for private parties, while more tables and chairs spill out into the alfresco tree-shaded courtyard. The restaurant prides itself on delivering the highest standards of authentic Italian Cuisine accompanied by a good selection of wines, cocktails, spirits, beers and soft drinks. The dishes are designed to be shared and served family-style, perfect for passing around the table. The main focus is on the origin and freshness of the produce, combined with the texture and taste of the elegantly prepared dishes.
