Among all learners, children with special needs can find it especially difficult to stay in confined spaces without any social exposure. This often frustrates them and results in displays of unusually aggressive behaviour which puts an additional strain on their caregivers. The stress of raising children with special needs was earlier shared between parents, schools, and vocational training centres. But now it has to be dealt with by parents and guardians alone. During such a time, it becomes increasingly important to support children with special needs as well as their parents and caregivers. Parents and caregivers must be guided on how to maintain their mental health as well as the mental and physical health of their ward; how to continue and improve the education and training of the children in these tough times; how to ensure social interactions, cleanliness, hygiene, food habits, emotional and psychological well being, physical exercises, medications and many more aspects. With a team of special educators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, Shristi offers an individualized and comprehensive education and skill development program for all ages. Dialogues that Matter with Harish Sadani: On Gender-Based Violence and Discrimination Against Women Violence against women is still rampant in today?s society. Join us on 2nd October as we speak to the co-founder of MAVA, and understand the ground reality of this violence. Gender-based Violence and Discrimination Against Women is currently a critical public health and human rights issue. Men are 'part of problem', and they must be ?part of the solution' to address roots of the 'gender' problem. Men need to be freed from the shackles of patriarchy, the rigid gender norms and the toxic masculinity that harmfully impacts them too, in addition to disempowering women. In our conversation with Harish, we will talk about how he, over the past 27 years, through his organization, has been working with young men and boys to question and redefine masculinity using out-of-the box methods.
